It won’t connect

I have tried countless of times to open the Pip-Boy app and it will not connect 1.i have enabled the Pip-Boy app on the settings 2 no matter how close my phone is to the console still will not work 3.i have restarted my fallout 4 and uninstalled the app then to reinstall it to find it the same as before .4 the same internet connection will not work as well. I don’t care that much about the dlc not being compatible with it. But I don’t hate the game. It would be cool to play it though.

Still works perfectly in 2024!

The last update was 8 years ago. Phew! A quick background on myself: I’m a game developer but have never had any contact with Bethesda. I also have a very specific yet unknown set of likes and dislikes. For example : I bought Fallout 3, well actually my parents bought it for my Steam account on my 26th birthday as a present (amongst other things). Though I never got on with it I still bought all the DLC plus New Vegas and all its DLC. I saw Fallout 4 and it just looked too similar back at launch. It seemed so pointless. I’d moved full time (as previously id play all consoles) to Nintendo. I recently returned to PC Gaming with a bang when I bought the 1tb OLED Steam Deck.

When it arrived the winter holiday sale was just finishing so I grabbed lots of games including but not limited to Doom Eternal as I’ve already 100%ed it on PS4, then 5, Nintendo Switch.

I was worried this app wouldn’t work. I remember seeing it back in the day on news sites. But yeah it sat up 100% perfectly on my steam deck. I like to use elastic bands to hold it to my lower arm. lol.

Once connected.....awwww yeah

Couldn't connect to begin with, but googled around and worked out that I could if I change my preferences (in Xbox One settings) about smart glass to allow all devices to connect (not just authorised etc, all [on the same network]).
Anyway, once connected (and it has done reliably ever since, but the developers really should fix the issue everyone else is having), the app works amazingly - it is exactly the pip-boy in game, but you can just tap rather than scrawl through various menus with buttons. The game responds instantly - it's great for healing in combat, comparing weapons, looking through the inventory, and works really well as a map on the second screen.
I use iPad Air 2, and have my pip boy propped next to me when gaming.
I highly recommend downloading if you own Fallout 4.
